Emerging South African artist Altorance Gumby has been awarded a 2025 Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, joining an international cohort of artists recognized for outstanding creative achievement and professional promise. The prestigious award, established in honor of Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock, provides financial support to enable artists to focus on their studio practice and artistic development.
Gumby, whose work explores the intersections of memory, identity, and the postcolonial landscape, continues to gain recognition for a distinctive visual language rooted in both local histories and global contemporary discourse. The grant will support new projects and upcoming exhibitions planned for 2026.
