THE BRIDGE BETWEEN MIDGARD AND ASGARD AND THUS THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE "EARTH WORLD" AND THE "HEAVENLY KINGDOM"⁠

We are excited to announce that Alteronce Gumby will be part of this year's Uptown Triennial with his work Bifröst.⁠ 'Bifröst' in nordic mythology, is a rainbow bridge between Midgard and Asgard and thus the connection between the "earth world" and the "heavenly kingdom". Through his work, Gumby engages the viewer and expands the notions through which we perceive form and colour, the subjectivity on identity, the materiality on earth, and in cosmic space.⁠

This work was created during his Berlin residency with Bode and is the biggest in size to date.⁠
